At Bodegas Ondalán, we also grow olives. We preserve the legacy of olive cultivation left by our ancestors with its traditional character, uniting the vine and the cereal grain that make up what is known as “tirade mediterránea”: olive oil, bread and wine.
We have a unique product, a special olive oil with its own personality, spicy and bitter, linked to our indigenous variety, only found in Rioja Alavesa and the area of Navarra: the Arróniz variety.
The Olive Oils of Bodegas Ondalán are made from the freshly picked fruit of our olive trees located in Oyón-Oion (Rioja Alavesa), that co-exist in perfect harmony with our vineyards.
Harvesting is done by hand, with a “milking” system, using “sieves” to separate the fruit from the leaves and branches.
The cold pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the “juice of olives”, as it is made directly from them only using mechanic procedures. This way, its aroma and taste talk about manage to fully reflect the olives from which its best qualities originate.
